At 9am this morning Alice Jackson presents an intimate snapshot into the delicate and intense world of guiding a baby to sleep.
“Singing, soothing, shushing and white noise have all become essential sonic elements in our sleep ritual determining whether the wave will break furiously or glide calmly onto shore. We are all taught how to get to sleep, to trust the transition from waking to sleeping, from outside world to self created world and it is within this key liminal space that I spend a lot of my day.”
Alice Jackson is a mother and an artist who co-runs a small DIY space in West Yorkshire. She’s currently negotiating her art practice around new motherhood and running.
This programme will be repeated on Friday 1st September at 6:30am.
